Clinical observation of stab wound on chest and abdomen

Abstract
|
|
|
Clinical observation and its review on stab wound of chest and abdomen were carried out.
The total number of cases were 63 cases and they were admitted to the Dept´, of General Surgery, Chonnam University Medical School Hospital from March 1960 to March 1965.
33 cases of them were stab wound of chest and 30 of them abdomen.
1. Average occurrence monthly was 1.1 cases (1.7%) and yearly 12, 6 cases (20. 0%). A majority of them were seen during late spring and early fall.
2. The ratio of male to female was 6 to 1.
33 cases of them (53, 30%0) were from 20 to 29 years of age.
3. Among the 33 cases of chest stab wound, 17 cases were carried out thoracotomy. Among the 30 cases of abdominal stab wound, 23 cases were carried out laparotomy. Mortality rate was approximately 1.6%.
